Pride In The Crucible Essay Example For Students
Pride In The Crucible Essay I never sold myself! Im a decent young lady! Im a legitimate young lady!; said Abigail Williams in The Crucible (p.40) That and, They should not darkening my name; more than anything are what we hear the most when it comes an opportunity to spare your name. Individuals with unnecessary pride would hazard to lose everything to ensure no one would ruin their name. They would even blamed their neighbors for the more regrettable wrongdoing so they would in any case be a piece of the great side of the general public. In the show play The Crucible, this is essentially what befall the principle characters. Each and every move they do, each and every word they state and each and every idea they have is made in capacity of what individuals would think. Charged from black magic, the primary character, John Proctor, lose all he has in view of his pride. The fate have not be so acceptable either for Giles Corey . His pride for is family may have remained before the law and the specialists, and r egardless of whether he spared everything for his children, his pride drove him to death. At that point you have Parris, who for his great name, attempts to conceal reality from the network. The main thing he puts on from this is burden upon his conscience and a white name. As you may have notice, pride is one of the most significant topic in The Crucible. The fundamental character of the play is John Proctor. Back in time, he engaged in extramarital relations with Abigail Williams and what appeared to be a little detail winds up being the primary driver of the allegation charged against his significant other, Elizabeth Proctor. The manner in which he generally needed to observe each and every thing he does has driven him to the point that others are a piece of his shrouded nursery and they attempt to stay quiet away from the remainder of the network since they could have dismiss him. The young lady he had lay down with truly wants him and after she engaged in a black magic prelimin ary, she tells the court that Elizabeth Proctor gave her capacity a shot her. She believed that his better half would be hang, so John would return her arms. The pride of John Proctor is appeared in the novel by the manner in which he make an effort not to determine what occurred among Abigail and he. He saves it for himself as long as possible and when he at last let it out, so it would demonstrate the aims of Abigail, Elizabeth denies it since she thinks it was a trop against her significant other. Yet, in the general public he was living, his pride was defended. He would not have been acknowledged by his locale in the event that they would have known his illicit relationship with another lady, and the life of the lady he appreciates the most would have been hopeless. He needed to save it for him, so life would keep on being as simple as it seemed to be. In any case, his predetermination didn't like it to happens as such. At that point you have Giles Corey. His pride most likely stayed stand on account of his family. He needs them to be in the acceptable piece of the general public where they live and not to be dismiss by different residents. Since he was blamed for black magic, his family could have lose everything except for he didn't need it to happen to the individuals he thought the most about, so when the specialists came to him and blamed him for black magic, he has not deny to be a witch since he realized that it would be futile. He additionally didn't affirm it since he needed the best for the individuals he imparted his life to and on the off chance that he had told he was doing black magic they would have been putted separated from the general public and it was the exact opposite thing he needed. So he passed on. The specialists simply continue putting rocks on him to make him talk, however he passed on. He is a survivor of his pride and perhaps it was not generally advantageous. He may hav e spared his home and his own belongings and his family may have kept on living gladly however they have lost the one individual that were getting them stuff to eat and a rooftop to rest. They have lost the man of the house, it is possible that it was a dad or a spouse, the one that everyone cherished in the lead position for what he gives them. His pride is, in a way, legitimized, in light of the fact that he did what he thought was the best, and with respect to John Proctor, the lives of the ones he cherished the most would have frightful on the off chance that he had not have the pride that was consuming in him. However, there is somebody, for who the way that he was pleased and didn't need anybody to darkening his name, have been sure; Reverend Parris. Since he was a notable individual in the network, he had an inclination that he had not to let reality goes out. He felt that no one should realize that Abigail and her companions were just brandishing in the wood and not conjurin g spirits. What's more, that, regardless of whether it implies that couple of individuals will be blamed for black magic and be hang. The Devil can't lives under the top of a service and he is eager to successfully demonstrate it since he wouldn't like to have anything to redden about his great name. I can't flicker what I saw, Abigail, for my adversaries won't squint it;(p.10). That quote from Reverend Parris appeared in a great manner the amount he thought about what others were going to state about him and the amount he thought about being decent. His pride was not supported. He imperil life of others, play with the position he had on the remainder of the network and he got what he needed. It was narrow minded and faltering. Every one of these characters had their explanation of representing their pride. It is possible that it was narrow minded or a demonstration of liberality for his family, they destroyed their life and passed on with reality in their psyche and nobody truly re cognizes what it is. The title of that play, The Crucible, might be deciphers effectively by the way that their pride experienced an extreme test to know whether they would truly represent what they were and not let individuals think what they were not, particularly on the off chance that it was bad. It is obviously shows that a few people must remain represent their pride, for themselves since they would feel deceive by the main individual that ought not have allowed them to down; themselves.

The Minimalists Unscripted Were getting back to our roots. Sort of. When we first started touring nearly a decade ago, our events were aggressively simple. In fact, they werent really eventsâ"they were small meetups. (Pictured above: The Minimalists at a twelve-person meetup in 2011.) Back then, wed simply pick a date, time, city, and venue, and then wed announce it once via email. That was it. Then, whether there were seven or 70 people there, wed host an impromptu one-hour discussion with whoever showed up. We learned a lot from those initial meetupsâ"so much so that were going to try it again. But with a twist. When we travel to a new city this year, well announce a free Unscripted meetup 24 hours in advance. Youll be notified about these meetups only if in our private text group. (Dont worry, well never send spam, junk, or ads.) We dont know what to expect from these Unscripted meetupsâ"theyll be considerably different from our thousand-person tour stops, which usually include a talk, live podcast, and special guestsâ"but well be there with open hearts, open minds, and free hugs. International Business Japan - Free Essay Example

International Business: Japan Introduction As Robert Fitzgerald (1994) says in the introduction of his collection of studies into East Asian studies, the GDP growth of nations within this region over the past half a century ââ¬Å"has been seen as a phenomenon of unprecedentedâ⬠¦ proportions.â⬠In the early decades following World War ll, Japan was probably the most significant example of this phenomenon, although in the past quarter of a century it has lost ground to other Asian countries. Many blame the recent changes of Japanese fortunes on the effects of globalisation. The purpose of this paper is to assess the validity of this argument. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "International Business: Japan" essay for you Create order To achieve this objective, we will first conduct a brief overview of the political, economic and cultural structure of the country, together the changing international business environment. Japanese Political and Economic structure As many observers have noted, the political and economic structure within Japan is markedly different from that of many other developed nations. Whereas in countries such as the US and UK there is a clear distinction between governments and commerce, Japan has developed on the basis of a high level of government involvement and cooperation between state and commerce, to the extent that it has lef to an institutionalized public-private cooperation in the process of economic policy formulation and implementationâ⬠(Nester 1992, p.119). In essence, the industrial development and economic growth that was witnessed in Japan during the beginning of the latter half of the last century was led by the political machine, which created powerful economic bureacuracies that, linked with private enterprise, heavilyinvolved themselves in market activities (Leftwich 1995, p.420). This close relationship was, and still is, based upon the fact that both groups peceived this approach as service their common interests and objectives. Therfore, joint ventures between the two have been seen as ââ¬Å"both practival and necessaryâ⬠(Fitzgerald 1994, p.13). As will be seen later, the resultant successes of Japanese Trade during that period reveal how beneficial this approach was at the time. One of the reason that this close political/commercial relationship worked so well in Japan,, in contrast to other developed countries where there is more of a gap betweeen the ethos of the two sides, is perhaps due to the cultural influences. Historically, the Japanese are a race welded together by three main cultural strands. The first of these is a belief in an identifiable ââ¬Å"Japanese Spirit.â⬠The second strand of thinking is that they are culturally unique , and these two are interralted within their thought processes (Fuller and Beck 2005, p.39). This leads to a group mentality in every aspect of their lives. For example, the reason that Japanese corporationââ¬â¢s have experienced much lower icidences of industiral unrest than their western counterparts is the group culture, which perceives that everyone will benefit if they work for the same common interest. This culture spilled over into International trade, where Japan in the past has seen it as a situaltion of them against the rest. As Fuller and Beck (2005, p.139) observe, many corporate leaders put the success of Japanese business down ââ¬Å"to a robust culture, part of which is believing they are different (Fuller and Beck 2005, p.139). However in recent decades, the Japanese model has become more subservient to the influences of the international community. International Trade The structure and shape of Japanese International business ha s changed significantly, particularly since 1980. The countryââ¬â¢s old alliances that were used to fuel its phenomenal economic growth between the 1950ââ¬â¢s and 1980ââ¬â¢s are now being reduced in favour of the more dynamic performing emerging economies. This is clearly evidence by its international trade statistics, both in terms of exports (see figure 1) and imports (see figure 2). Figure 1 Top ten export destinations 1980 -2006 Figure 2 Top ten importing nations 1980 2006 If one looks at exports firstly, as can be seen from the graph in figure 1, between 1980 and 2000 Japan relied heavily upon the western nation markets, particularly the US, for the sale of its goods and services. However, since the turn of the century this position has changed dramatically. Whilst Japanââ¬â¢s trade with the west has remained fairly static during the first six years of this decade, its reliance upon Asian markets, such as China, has risen significantly. For example, whilst trade with the US has little more than double during the 26 years, trade with China increased nearly tenfold over the same period, with the majority of this growth occurring since 2000, A similar result, although more pronounced, can be found in the case of imports. In this case China has displaced the US to become Japanââ¬â¢s highest country for imports (figure 3). Figure 3 Top ten importers 2006 Another interesting comparison to be drawn from these statistics is the change in the balance of trade (see figure 4). As can be seen from this table, Japanââ¬â¢s trade with the US and Germany has moved from one of interdependence to more of a supplier based relationship, whereas with the Asian countries of China is has moved in the opposite direction[1]. Figure 4 Balance of trade An analysis of the different between the types of products also reveals where Japan is globally dominant. As can be seen from the following analysis of Exports and Imports (figures 5 and 6), The Japanese expertise and dominant position globally still remains in the areas of manufactured goods, machinery and transport, including computers and automobiles (Porter 1998, p.2). However, equally apparent is fact that the Chinese and Asian markets beginning to take precedence over the US and other western nations in this respect. The only variation to this development is in the area of automobile exports, which can be explained by the poorer living standards of their citizens. Figure 5 Exports by type 2006 Figure 6 Imports by type 2006 Much of this change of direction in Japanââ¬â¢s international business structure can be put down to the political, economic and cultural influences explained earlier. For example, the Japanese government takes a protectionist stance in respect of its economic welfare (Nester 1990, p.167-170 and 1991, p.29) and, faced with the exceptional growth rates in China, it would be natural for Japan to move quickly to protect i ts main industrial expertise and the industries related to this area by seeking to seek to develop its relationship with it close neighbours, in this case being China. In these aspects and others the International ethos of Japan is very much aligned to the extended version of Porters diamond on national competitiveness (Johnson et al 2007, p.73-75 and Porter 1998, p.72). For example, the political and commercial strategy is very much focused on the need to react to rivalry and changes in demand. Similarly, Japanââ¬â¢s international business is quick to react to adverse conditions in any country that it trades with. To further cement its relationship with neighbouring Asian countries, Japan has sought to cement more formal economic relationships with other Asian nations through its membership of organisations such as ASEAN, which seeks to look after Asiaââ¬â¢s global trading interests. This move is reminiscent of similar action taken by Japan in the past in an attempt to forge closer links with the US and Europe. The impact of Globalisation Another factor that has seriously affected Japan over the past quarter of a century is that of globalisation. During the period from 1980 to the mid 1990ââ¬â¢s Japan was the dominant economic force in Asia and thus, to a major extent, was the sole beneficiary of the needs of the West to secure more economical and innovative products. However, as economic growth and living standards in Japan continued, so their international trade position became less competitive. At the same time, other emerging countries in the region, such as China and India, were becoming more aware of the benefits of globalisation and began to internationalise their financial and economic markets. This provided Japanââ¬â¢s former trading partners, predominately the US and Europe, with alternative locations and resources, at a more economical cost. Furthermore, it also opened up significant consumer markets, which these nations were quick to recognise and seek to take advantage of. For Japan, the result of this further globalisation of countries within the Asian region was to lead to a significant fall in the rate of Growth of their GDP. As can be seen from the graph in figure 7, in the past decade this rate has halved from the high of 2000 to below the rate being achieved in 1980. Figure 7 Japans GDP growth rate 1980 2005 This fall in Japanââ¬â¢s GDP provides another reason for their seeking improved trade with the rest of Asia. Furthermore, Japanââ¬â¢s International trade position over the next decade is also beset with difficulties. With Chinaââ¬â¢s economy growing at of around 10% per annum, and it set to become the worldââ¬â¢s most powerful economy within the next three decades, with India close behind, Japan is facing a duality of economic issues. The first it that it needs to find a way to remain competitive in the face of such significant competition and the second is the need to find a strategy upon which to take advantage of the Chinese market for its own purposes. Unlike the inroads that Japan made into the US and European markets, where the economies operate on the basis of a free market with little political interference, with China Japan is facing a competitor who has a similar political, economic and cultural structure to its own. Therefore, the approach used to penetrate the western markets is unlikely to work in this China. Reference Johnson, Gerry., Scholes, Kevan and Whittington, Richard (2007). Marxs Critique of Capitalism - 3124 Words
by Tom Chance Throughout his work, Marxs primary concern was the intellectual destruction of capitalism. Despite his belief in a progressive history, and in the inevitable downfall of capitalism, Marx thought that in destroying capitalisms intellectual support he could hasten its real demise and usher in a socialist era. Many of his works can be seen as reactions to the growing status of the relatively new field of political economy, pioneered by figures like Adam Smith, David Ricardo and Thomas Malthus, whose increasingly laissez-faire theories promoted an extension of exactly the features of capitalism that Marx thought were most defective. Hence his critique ranges from attacks on the complacent liberal bases of capitalism to complexâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦But Marx went further, to claim that it is the mode of production [that] constitutes the economic structure of society and to which correspond definite forms of social consciousness (Marx, 2001b : 425). To illustrate, a society that is predominantly based around farming will have an economy based on the seasons, markets, and definite social relations between farm owners and farm workers. If, as Marx claimed, it is the social being [of men] that determines their consciousness, then it is the case that an individuals consciousness is determined by the forms of social consciousness, which are themselves determined by the modes of production in said society. In other words, Marx thought that it was in the economic superstructures that social and political strife have their origins, and so that political theory ought to concern itself with modes of production, rather than abstract ideas such as justice and liberty. And it was in the structures of capitalism that Marx found his major concern, and which he saw as both the source of all strife in the developed world, and as a necessary step in the development of society. In fact, some Marxists claim that we should not criticise capitalism because it is unjust, but because it crushes human potential, destroys fraternity, encourages the inhumane treatment of man by man, and has other grave defects generically different from justice (Cohen : 139) Whether one accepts thatShow MoreRelatedKarl Marx and Capitalism Essay880 Words à |à 4 Pagesdeveloped his critique of capitalism by analyzing its characteristics and its development throughout history. So, CCSS is the best course for a student who is trying to find a major to be a pro at while in college. When the student feels the professor out, this is another way of being successful while in college. This is because in order to past a course, the student has to think the way the professor would think. The student has to work a math problem out or write a sentence out the same way his or her professor would because that is what one who goes to school would called ââ¬Å"thinking like the professor. â⬠When a student receives a graded paper, the student is suppose too get up and ask him or her ââ¬Å"What did I do wrong? What did this comment mean? â⬠This way, the student has all the information he or she needs to pass the course. If the student was told to work on subject-verb agreement, this would be the main thing that the student would look out for while writing because this was his or her weakest point. This way, the student then thinks just like the professor by writing out sentences like him or her. Good note-taking skills are another great way to be successful while in college. It is another great way because every piece of note counts. Every piece of note counts because everything that was written down over the week will be on the test. A student that takes down notes all week will mostly likely say ââ¬Å"oh, I remember thisâ⬠, when it is time to test because basically it was the test the student was writing out the whole time. If a student has written down all of chapter 6, he or she is suppose too be familiar with the test after taken down notes all week. Therefore, writing notes is another quality of a student being successful while he or she is in college. What qualities in a student cause him or her to be successful while in college? Many colleges are wondering the qualities. It takes one from experience to answer such a question. After surviving the spring 2012 semester, my following qualities were: taking a CCSS course to figure out what would I be successful at studying in, feeling out the professors so we both can cooperate like teacher-student, and writing down everything the teacher wrote on the board. Those are the qualities I would recommend to any student that is asking ââ¬Å"what qualities in a student cause him or her to be successful in college? ââ¬

Rem Koolhaas and Jan Gehl Theories in City Planning
Rem Koolhaas and Jan Gehl Theories in City Planning People take different positions when debating on a subject and this is not any different in the architectural world. The two architects presented in this paper have taken very different positions concerning how cities should be designed as outlined below.Advertising We will write a custom critical writing sample on Rem Koolhaas and Jan Gehl Theories in City Planning specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Rem Koolhaas, in his interview with Spiegel Online titled An Obsessive Compulsion Towards the Spectacular, seems to be for the construction of large sophisticated buildings in the cities. For Rem, spectacular should be the main guiding concept when designing buildings in cities and not sustainability as being advocated for by environmentalists. He asserts that experience and intellectual force are there in the world, for example in Middle East and the West, which can be utilized to come up with spectacular buildings. However, he is also awa re of the challenge that exists in merging the experience from the West with intellectual from the Middle East (Koolhaas side 1). Rem seems not to like the idea of similarity in buildings designed by different architects, but also notes that it is sometimes inevitable. He notes that the large architectural buildings in most cities are almost the same design. He, however, blames this on time limitation for research when designing buildings, which often force architects to borrow from existing buildings rather than coming up with new designs. He does not like this similarity, but also acknowledges that sometimes architects are forced by the customers to domesticate existing designs especially in air conditioned buildings. This is because the owners of the buildings have pinned down the architects to what they want and not what the architects want to design (Koolhaas side 1). The constructions nowadays are meant to create ambiguity and complexity in order to escape the challenges that come with being explicit (Koolhaas side 3). Jan Gehl, on the other hand, is also for large buildings in the city, but he insists that there has to be space put aside for people. In his interview with ASLA-The Dirt, Jan insists cities have to be planned for the people and that buildings have to be designed for the people to be able to live healthy lives (ASLA-Dirt side 3). Jan insists on sustainability as the guiding concept when designing cities. He notes that buildings have filled the landscape. This has led to planning becoming a profession. Architects take care of the buildings and the planners do the planning. A buildingââ¬â¢s ground floor should be rich and the whole city will be rich. It should be designed to fit peopleââ¬â¢s interaction and communication (ASLA-Dirt side 2). He considers Pizza del campo in Sienna as a place where human care has been observed (ASLA-Dirt side 3). For Jan, similarity of buildings designed by different architects is not an issue so long as t he buildings are designed with sustainability in mind.Advertising Looking for critical writing on architecture? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More The two architects, however, have some converging positions. They both agree on the fact that there is a need for a peopleââ¬â¢s space in the cities. Rem acknowledges trying to design Dubai as a true public place. He wants to create a city in Dubai that has space for people and not the place you find in every city like shopping malls, but also maintain an urban life for the people (Koolhaas side 1). He notes that urban centers are not lacking anything, but are confused in that they are too densely populated that in future the cities could be insecure to live in (Koolhaas side 2). This could make the European city a history since nobody will live there anymore. ââ¬Å"Biggest not tallestâ⬠is the common phrase that people use nowadays (Koolhaas side 2). The difference between a science centre and the development going on in Dubai is the political environment and the amount of freedom and latitude the architects are given (Koolhaas side 3). The two main typologies of buildings today are houses and towers unlike in the 20th century when there were many types (Koolhaas side 3). He thinks that competition between buildings to be the tallest is just a ridiculous idea. He notes that length is becoming less of a concern as architects focus on size so that the building can be multifunctional (Koolhaas side 3). T he factor of big multifunctional buildings makes people to always be in motion while the buildings are constantly being renovated (Koolhaas side 3). He notes that the larger the space, the better, but the buildings should have a place where people could meet to interact (Koolhaas side 4). Just like Rem, Jan too feels that the cities are too much filled with buildings instead of being planned for the people. Nobody takes care of the people living in the buildings (ASLA-Dirt side 2). He says that it would be better to take care of the people than to take care of the buildings. Cities should be designed in such a way that it facilitates a healthy life, for example, encouraging people to cycle to work not to just sit and move in motor vehicles (ASLA-Dirt side 3).Advertising We will write a custom critical writing sample on Rem Koolhaas and Jan Gehl Theories in City Planning specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More We should always build for human scale not for structure scale. It is, however, very difficult to build considering human scale while the buildings there at the moment are built to structure scale (ASLA-Dirt side 4). This challenge is worse in third world countries where cars and motor cycles increase by the day (ASLA-Dirt side 5). This makes it difficult for city planners as they are forced to constantly revise the plans. Critical Discussion Remââ¬â¢s point of view is good as it would lead to better developed cities with the best and most complex designs. This would also lead to better services and delivery of goods in an easy way as the infrastructure is well taken care of. However, the problem with Remââ¬â¢s position is that his position does not concentrate on the most important idea of taking care of people and making cities secure for the people in the future. Janââ¬â¢s point of view is that the cities should be planned for the people, but also notes that buildings are an important part of cities. The weakness of this way of thinking is that there will be less development in terms of infrastructure especially in third world countries where cities are growing in population day by day. Leaving spaces for people in the cities would compromise city development. The two positions can, however, be combined to make a wonderful idea. That is, combining spectacular with sustainability. Construction of complex buildings in cities can be encouraged s o long as the architects have people in mind. This way, there will be more economic developments in our cities as the people are comfortable and healthy (ASLA-Dirt side 3). ASLA-Dirt. Interview with Jan Gehl. 5 WARNING Signs You Have a Terrible Boss
5 WARNING Signs You Have a Terrible Boss So many people change jobs to get away from a manager they donââ¬â¢t get along with, or canââ¬â¢t stand. Bad bosses are the absolute worst. It makes enjoying your work exponentially harder, and can even give you so much stress you end up taking a good bit of that stress home. Before you decide whether you need to bail, it might be a good idea to get clear on what it is youââ¬â¢d be running from if you decided to leave your current job. That way youââ¬â¢ll have a better idea what to look for: a new job/career- or just a different boss. Here are 5 signs that it isnââ¬â¢t you or your current position; itââ¬â¢s your terrible boss:1. Youââ¬â¢re Always MicromanagedApart from being thoroughly annoying in almost all cases, micromanaging can also be sign of a bad boss. Despite their piety, their overzealous attention to your every move doesnââ¬â¢t increase your productivity- quite the contrary. If youââ¬â¢re left wishing your boss would just trust you to do the job she hired you for, and youââ¬â¢re near exasperationâ⬠¦ sounds like a bad boss factor.2. You Can Never Reach OutOr itââ¬â¢s the opposite: your boss is AWOL whenever you need him or her. When you have a question, a concern, an urgent to-do- the door is shut. Everyone is busy, and you want your manager to be a mover and a shaker in your field, but it is important to make face time with your employees. And at least to be available in a crisis.3. You Feel BulliedIf you feel personally victimized by your boss, thatââ¬â¢s a bad sign. If your boss belittles you, insults you, undermines you, calls you out publicly for things that arenââ¬â¢t your fault, or interferes with your workâ⬠¦ then they are in the wrong, and very unprofessional. Bad boss!4. Inconsistency is CommonThe mark of a good boss- even a tough one, is consistency. If your boss is Jekyll and Hyde-ing you left and right, is generally unreliable, and changes plans and strategies midstream, then thereââ¬â¢s n ot much youââ¬â¢ll be able to do to fix the situation.5. Thereââ¬â¢s a Two-Way Lack of TrustIf you donââ¬â¢t trust your boss, and you feel a palpable lack of trust coming from her to you? Thatââ¬â¢s a problem. If you donââ¬â¢t have each otherââ¬â¢s backs in the appropriate employer/employee way, thereââ¬â¢s not much hope.If one or two- or even all- of these things sum up your situation, there are some things you can try to do before jumping ship:Try to Fix the RelationshipPeople can, and do, change. If you donââ¬â¢t already think your boss is the devil incarnate, it might be worth a little interpersonal work to see if you canââ¬â¢t get off on a better foot together. It could fail, but youââ¬â¢d be no worse off. The best way to go about this is to first acknowledge your own failings and accept responsibility for the ways in which you are not contributing in the best way to the relationship. Itââ¬â¢s an exercise in maturity, and worth a try.Escape With out EscapingSometimes itââ¬â¢s possible to move within your company. Try getting switched onto another team, or to another department- even a different office. Youââ¬â¢ll have the added advantage of being able to network yourself closer to an open position before it hits the open internet. Start by making yourself available to help different coworkers on different teams; thatââ¬â¢s a great way to introduce yourself and your skill set.Start LookingSave yourself from quitterââ¬â¢s remorse and donââ¬â¢t just storm out one day never to return. Prepare for the inevitable, if it is indeed inevitable. Start looking for new jobs, preparing your resume, etc. You never know, your best opportunity could come out of this one bad situation. You just need to keep your head up and make the proper moves.

Contract Law Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Contract Law - Essay Example Since Standard Contracts display an inherent certainty, they leave no scope for ambiguity. The Supplier who has made the Standard Contract (Employers, Banks, Investors and other such people) can impose their own clauses. They impose their own clauses and are adamant about any proposed change by the client. What makes provisions in agreements ââ¬Å"standardâ⬠is the failure of the client to negotiate them and the willingness of those artists to accept such an off-putting reply that something is ââ¬Å"standard.â⬠( IVAN HOFFMAN, B.A., J.D.) There are of course many provisions that should be included in any thorough agreement even though many of those provisions and their internal components remain fully negotiable. But at the very least, money points, royalties, advances, reserves should be considered as fully fair game in all deals. Other agreed terms, whilst not mandatory, have been subject to agreement between the negotiating parties nationally and should not therefore n eed amending in any way at local level. There are only a small number of terms which will be particular to each practice and which will need to be tailored to reflect the agreement. In the present scenario there is precious little that the client can do. There are not too many legal instruments could be provided to the client against the supplier, who has prepared the Standard Contract. As a rule, the standard conditions are valid in most circumstances.

Micro credit Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Micro credit - Essay Example The success of Grameen Bank, which was started by Yunus Muhammad in Bangladesh has always been used as a demonstration of the creditworthiness of individuals that live in poverty and the possible positive socio-economic effect of microfinance. The Grameen Bank is popular for two practices of innovativeness; these are mainly serving female customers and giving loans to small groups or individuals that come together for common economical purposes, with shared liability that replaces monetary collateral. Being an approach that is market-based to fighting impoverishment, the focus of microfinance and microcredit is on the development of entrepreneurship and the expansion of self-employment (Abed, 2000). Presently, the institutions of microfinance serve about one hundred and fifteen million individuals. They have a close relationship with the customers, simplified processes and support extension to customers via group networks as well as some other resources, like a basic training on the repayment of loan. The industry has been highly diversified, reaching different sections of the society, though not usually reaching the poorest (Yunus and Weber, 2007). The providers also vary as they range from NGOs, cooperative unions, government and commercial banks, point-of-sale partners like post offices and shops, self-help groups and credit unions. Technology is increasingly assisting in the facilitation of access to the financial services and the reduction of costs of administration. The product portfolios are growing to encompass different kinds of insurance mechanisms and savings, remittance services and emergency loaning, demonstrating the rising recognition of the several financial empowermentââ¬â¢s dimensions. The battle against the availability of credit markets and hence against high rates of interests that the moneylenders demand is not new. They use the power of information concerning the potential borrowers and require different rates of interest

A Slaves Soul Runs Deep Essay -- essays papers
A Slaves Soul Runs Deep A Slaveââ¬â¢s Soul Runs Deep The poem ââ¬ËThe Negro Speaks of Riversââ¬â¢ by Langston Hughes is about a man with a vast knowledge and understanding of rivers. The first two sentences of the poem are similar, as in both Hughes states, ââ¬ËIââ¬â¢ve known riversââ¬â¢. From this the reader gathers that this man has been around rivers and probably lived around rivers. He talks about different experiences he has had on four different rivers. For example he says, ââ¬ËI bathed in the Euphrates when dawns were youngââ¬â¢ and this gives the impression that he was around long ago when the river was just starting to form. Another quote, ââ¬ËI heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln went down to New Orleansââ¬â¢ shows a passage of time from the first quote as this historically places him in a much more modern time frame. On an unobjective level I think that this is a poem about different rivers that Hughes feels attached to for some unexplained reason. However, based on a close read ing I would argue through the explication approach that this poem can be seen in a different light. While some may argue otherwise, I believe that on an explicative level Hughes is creating a comparison between his soul and the rivers. In taking a closer look at many different aspects such as genre, my close reading interpretation, and outside research I have reached a conclusion. I have discovered that Hughes did a wonderful job of describing the slave experience as seen through his soul and the souls of all others who have experienced slavery. I believe that Hughesââ¬â¢ poem is oral. It seems to read as if he is passionately reciting to some fictional audience. It makes sense for his presentation to be oral as he is describing his history as well as the... ...eaks of Riversââ¬â¢. This clearly demonstrates how truly important the issue of slavery was to him and how his life had become symbolized by the poem. This poem at first seemed straightforward to me. As I read it more closely and thought about it more I began to put bits and pieces together. I think Hughes has done a wonderful job of describing the slave experience, from the beginning of his narrative to the end, which is when he starts to realize that a brighter future might exist. The way it was written made me really think about what it was Hughes was trying to say. This poem made me realize that a great many people suffered as slaves. These people lived their whole lives in this capacity, most without hope of any change of status. I felt like I was putting together a jigsaw puzzle and it was a good feeling when I finally saw what I believe Hughes wanted me to see.

Bhagat Singh, Indian Freedom Fighter Essay
Bhagat Singh, the epitome of heroism, was a revolutionist during the Colonial Period in India. Bhagat Singh was well known for his admiration of martyrdom. Bhagat Singh was one of the most well known Indian freedom fighters and Indian revolutionaries and who contributed significantly in the Indian Freedom Struggle against the British. Singh was born in a family that was actively involved in revolutionary activities against the British rule in the country. He is also addressed as Shaheed Bhagat Singh, meaning martyr. Singh was born in a Sikh family which was involved in revolutionary endeavors against the British. He was a prominent member of various revolutionary associations and was also one of the major leaders of the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA), which was later known as the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) in the year 1928. Early Life of Bhagat Singh Bhagat Singh was born on 28th September, 1907 to Sardar Kishan Singh Sandhu and Sardarni Vidyavati Kaur, in Khatkar Kalan village in Lyallpur district of Punjab. Arya Samaj had a strong on the life of Sardar Kishan Singh. His uncles as well as his father were all part of the Ghadar Party that was led by Kartar Singh Sarabha. The Jalianwalabagh Massacre, which took place in Punjab in 1919, had a deep impact on the mind of young Bhagat Singh. In the year 1920, Mahatma Gandhi started the Non Cooperation Movement. Bhagat Singh actively participated with a great hope that this movement would bring freedom to the country. Bhagat Singh challenged the British rule and followed the wishes of Mahatma Gandhi by burning his government-school books and imported clothes. During his early age, Bhagat Singh used to read a lot of literature and poetries especially written by Punjabi writers. Allama Iqbal from Sialkot, who was also a freedom fighter, was Bhagat Singh`s favourite poet. By winning an essay competition that was organised by Punjab Hindi Sahitya Sammelan in 1923, young Bhagat Singh attracted the attention of the Punjab Hindi Sahitya Sammelan. Initially, he studied at the National College in Lahore. But after some time, he ran away from his home in order to escapeà early marriage. Contributions of Bhagat Singh Bhagat Singh became an active member of Naujawan Bharat Sabha and also joined Hindustan Republican Association, which was headed by Ashfaqulla Khan and Ram Prasad Bismil. Later on, he became the leader of the association. On 30th of October, 1928, a protest was led by Lala Lajpat Rai against Simon Commission but that too in a non violent way. During this protest, the police resorted to Lathi charge and Lala Lajpat Rai was severely beaten. After this incident, Bhagat Singh with other revolutionaries, planed to kill the police chief. But because of a mistaken identity, J. P. Saunders, a Deputy Superintendent of Police was shot instead of Scott. Immediately after that, Bhagat Singh left Lahore and he also shaved his beard and cut his hair to avoid recognition. After this incident, the Defence of India Act was enacted by the British government in order to give more power to the police. On the other hand, in response to this act, Hindustan Socialist Republican Association planned to blast a bomb particularly in the assembly, where the act was supposed to be passed. According to their plan, it was decided that Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt would throw the bombs. On April 8, 1929, they threw the bombs; however it neither killed nor injured anyone. Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt surrendered themselves for arrest. They were sentenced to Transportation for Life for the incident. It was after their arrest that the British rulers came to know that Singh was involved in the murder case of J.P. Saunders. He admitted his crime and made statements in the court against the British as a tool to publicize their cause of freedom struggle. However, the court ordered the case to be carried out without members of the association who were present at the hearing. This order produced a chaos amongst the supporters of Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh along with other prisoners launched hunger strike in the jail. The main reason behind this was that the British thieves and murderers were given better treatment than the Indian prisoners. According to law the Indian political prisoners were supposed to be given better rights. He also demanded that the Indian political prisoners should not be forced to do any sort of undignified work. This hunger strike lasted for 63 days and ended with the submission of British power. With this, he gained tremendous popularity. Ideology of Bhagat Singh Bhagat Singh used to maintain diary while in jail. The diary was a precious one as he made numerous notes relating to the quotations and popular sayings of various people whose vies he supported, prominent were of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Political thought of Bhagat Singh`s evolved gradually from Gandhian nationalism to revolutionary Marxism. By the end of 1928, Singh and his comrades renamed their organisation the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. After going through the teachings of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Vladimir Lenin, he came to believe that, India with such a large and diverse population could only survive properly under a socialist regime. Bhagat Singh became the first socialist leader of the country. Bhagat Singh was hanged on 23rd March, 1931 at 7:30 pm, in Lahore Jail, along with fellow revolutionaries Sukhdev and Jai Rajguru. After his execution, youths in the country rioted in protest. Thus the desire of Bhagat Singh to inspire thousands of youths to assist the Indian independence movement took a serious turn.

Gay Marriage Should Be Legal - 2373 Words
Introduction June 26th, 2015, a group of same-sex couples sued the states of Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee. They challenged the constitution of those states, for their refusal to legalize same sex marriage. In the past there had been plenty of cases of discrimination against same sex couples. Homosexual relationships, and even gay marriages, have existed since the beginning of recorded history, in 1970 the fight for marriage equality exploded. Gay couples looking into getting marriage licenses were denied, which started a battle for equal rights. Homosexual couples demanded the right to marry, desiring the same benefits given to married heterosexual couples. A Parents Choice to Empower or to Control Essay - 724 Words
A Parents Choice to Empower or to Control I was raised in a home where corporal punishment was a way of life. My parents, both from a very strict religious background, felt justified in spanking and instilling fear in the name of God. They believed they were fulfilling their parental responsibilities; this is how they were raised by their parents, spanked to ensure respect and obedience. I can remember walking to kindergarten with tears in my eyes. As I walked to school, the tears would roll down my face, and I could not understand the feelings of anger and resentment stirring inside me. As a child I wasnt always sure why my parents, who claimed to love me, chose to spank me. This caused some confusion for me especially when theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦She would stiffen her body and cry. Once we arrived at the store there were times she would scream, cry and throw herself back if she did not get what she wanted. When she was learning to walk and curious about everything, she would grab everything and anything in her r each. Should I have followed my parents example and spanked her? What would this accomplish? There are those who believe that because they were spanked as a child this made them a better person. They knew what the consequences would be if they misbehaved--corporal punishment-- so they avoided getting into trouble. They feel confident that this is the way to raise their children. After all, if they were too fearful to misbehave then so will their children be and if a child stays out of trouble, parents feel they have done well in their parenting responsibilities. They view spanking as a positive tool in child rearing. Spanking may be the easy way out, but I dont believe this is what a child wants or needs. I believe children need values, direction and guidance. I feel children should behave because it is the right thing to do, not because they are fearful. I believe a child needs to feel a sense of freedom to make mistakes and find his/her own way in life. Allowing a child this freedom will enable the child to make choices to control his/her own behavior. I believe a child de serves our respect, patience, love and understanding. In my opinion, spanking does not convey love or respect. The onlyShow MoreRelatedThe Issue Of The Medical Treatment1549 Words à |à 7 Pagesfatigue, gastrointestinal problems, and pain. Many breast cancer patients begin treatment with surgery to remove the metastasis tumor. Depending on the size of the tumor the patient has options of surgery; lumpectomy or mastectomy. These surgeries do not completely take away the cancer, as they can remove the tumor and leave the rest of the cure to therapy. Many women chose to have a double mastectomy, in order to prevent the spread of the cancer in the breast. ââ¬Å"A lumpectomy is when only the part of the breast containing the cancer is removed. A mastectomy is when the entire breast is removed, including all of the breast tissue and sometimes other nearby tissues (Surgery for Breast Cancer). Surgery is the beginning of all treatments to get the majority of the cancer out of the body. If the patient chooses to undergo surgery, most of the time there are other therapies are to go along with it in order to kill the remaining cells. Radiation therapy, the second option of local treatments, is the use of radioactive materials to lessen the density of the cancer. ââ¬Å"Radiation therapy before surgery can help to shrink the breast tumor. Always running free essay sample
It was written in the bible that God created this world in seven days and he also created the first human beings-Adam and Eva, but perhaps god didnt expect that the history in the development of human beings would involve dividing them into different races, and certainly God would never have expected the fact that race became a societal issue as to how minorities are being bullied. In the book ââ¬Å"Always Runningâ⬠wrote by a Mexican-American, Luis Rodriguez, he records his early life as one of the gang members in the City of Angel, Los Angeles. He attempts to use his story to show the racial oppression and violence of the gang members, and more significantly, he uses his story to demonstrate the hardship of being bullied by racists. In general, the books hub is surrounded the experience of how minority races are being bullied, and this helps creating a powerful ethnic experience. Also, Rodriguez didnt leave out any details of censorship but he chose to reveal some of the ugliest morality presented by the Americans in the book, which readers would finally understand a true American story. Nonetheless, Rodriguez presented his ideas of how people should stand against racial oppression and society should try their best to help people who are suffering from racial discrimination. First of all, as mentioned above, Rodriguez uses a lot of details of how minorities are being bullied throughout the story to help setting up the story. At the beginning of the story, Rodriguez describes his first day of school and he uses detailed description to explain how he was practically being discriminated because of his language barrier. He describes what a crime it was because he doesnââ¬â¢t speak English. He said that ââ¬Å"in those days there was no way to integrate the non-English speaking children. So they just made it a crime to speak anything but English. If a Spanish word sneaked out in the playground, kids were often sent to the office to get swatted or to get detention. Teachers complained that maybe the children were saying bad things about them. An assumption of guilt was enough to get one punishedâ⬠(27). Rodriguez uses a lot of strong words to emphasize on the hardship of not being able to speak English, and he didnââ¬â¢t have the choice because he never went to a proper kindergarten. By using such technique, the readers can follow his trace of thoughts which helps the readers to easily feel his pain as beingà ââ¬Å"differentâ⬠from the others. Readers can easily picture the scenarios of how they are being bullied and how desperate they are when they are being put into awkward situations with no one to cry for help. Readers can put themselves into their shoes and the words used by Rodriguez can easily convey the feelings of hopelessness and sympathy. He also describes one of his awkward moments at school, where he went home without notifying the teachers because he thought the other students all went home, but the fact is they all lined up in the playground for the fire drill. Again, Rodriguez uses an incident from his past to portray himself as an alienated foreigner who seemed to be unfit from the American Society. American readers might never have the chance to experience what once destroyed Rodriguez, but the memories from Rodriguez certainly acts as a catalyst to help creating an imaginary scene where readers can have a first-hand experience of how Rodriguez felt when he was being left out. Some publishers are really cautious about the inappropriate contents that they will do whatever they can to put censorship onto the books. On the other hand, Rodriguez didnt leave out a single detail as to how he describes his experiences in dealing with discriminative Americans. He surely understands that this might be offensive to Americans but he must feel that the importance of spreading his idea is not to be undermined. In the story, Rodriguez describes the outburst between his friends and the police when they were simply trying to go to their high schoolââ¬â¢s Homecoming football game. He said that ââ¬Å" the police didnââ¬â¢t want to hear it. Before long an officer struck Carlitos with a baton on his knee. We turned around but the other officer pulled his gun out on us. Two more cops arrived. One of them put a choke hold on Cartilos as the other struck his legsâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Cartilos looked like he lost his breath. His face turned blue as the officer behind him put pressure on his neckâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ¦things soon exploded. More cops came but they too were pelted. A major confrontation erupted just above where the two high schools were playing their game, oblivious to what was going onâ⬠(96). While polices are often portrayed as righteous knights and the symbol of justice, it doesnt seem that way when Rodriguez describes them, but rather the polices beat up Cartilos just because he was different from the others. Rodriguez carefully uses such incidents to convey a true American story asà he only tells the truth. Even though the truth might not be what we usually expect, the stories certainly set us thinking, and ruminating on how society treats racial minorities. Stories such as the one mentioned above would definitely provoke the sympathetic heart that exists in every reader, which in turns, these stories help sharing the most authentic American experience. Rodriguez tries to inspire people with this story to tell people that they need to stay strong and fight back even if they are facing the worst of their life. In the epilogue, Rodriguez specifically specifies that this part of his book is written to his son, but I also believe this part of the book is written to send a message. He says that ââ¬Å"Ive talked to enough gang members and low-level dope dealers to know they would quit today if they had a productive, livable-wage job. Youll find people who dont care about who they hurt, but nobody I know wants to sell death to their children, their neighbors and friends. If there was a variable alternative, they would stop. If we all had a choiceStop runningâ⬠(251). Rodriguez makes use of this epilogue to express his final thoughts on Race and Inequality. Indeed, race has been one of the most sensitive factors of how people judge one another, and often we could still hear the problem of racial discrimination coming from the media. People who suffer from racial oppression really dont have a choice to move on, just like what Rodriguez said. However, Rodriguez believes that this choice has to be earned, thats why he said ââ¬Å"stop runningâ⬠(251), to remind everyone of us that we have to confront society who still judges people by race, but overlook that those people are also human beings. We are born equal, and thus we must be treated equally. In fact, Rodriguez himself is already a living example to show people that they should not be ashamed of their race, but they should be proud of it. Rodriguez mentions that his success in the preface where he says that ââ¬Å"I have addressed thousands of teachers, law-enforcement personnel, social workers, community organizers, journalists, government officials, graduate students, writers and others in countless workshops, peace summits and forums(xii). Rodriguez sees himself as an inspiration, because he shows people even with his race and identity, and even with his past as a notorious gang member, he could still change and become a better person. He tells us that we should never be afraid of where we belong and we should never give up because things will get better. All in all, Rodriguez uses his story to raise the public awareness of gangsters and how they are pressured under racial oppression. There is no doubt that every actions comes with an alternative choice, so one can argue that gangsters simply chose the wrong path and they could have chosen to become something else. However, we have seen in Rodriguezââ¬â¢s story, that not all of us are granted the liberty to make a choice in the first place, but rather, they are forced into becoming a gangster unwillingly, because no one gave them a choice. There is definitely a lesson here, which tells us that people who have the priviledge to make choices should never take things for granted, for there are people in this world who were born with no choice at all. And people who do not have the chance to make a choice, should also remember that it is up to you to fight back. Although it is not guaranteed that if you fight back, you would get things you want, but certainly you have created a hope for yourself.

The Importance Of Animal Research Essay Example For Students
The Importance Of Animal Research Essay Research on animals is important in understanding diseases anddeveloping ways to prevent them. The polio vaccine, kidney transplants, and heart surgery techniques have all been developed with the help of animal research. Through increased efforts by the scientific community, effective treatments for diabetes, diphtheria, and other diseases have beendeveloped with animal testing. Animal research has brought a dramatic progress into medicine. With the help of animal research, smallpox has been wiped out worldwide. Micro-surgery to reattach hearts, lungs, and other transplants are all possible because of animal research. Since the turn of the century, animal research has helped increase our life-span by nearly 28 years. And now, animal research is leading to dramatic progress against AIDS and Alzheimers disease. Working with animals in research is necessary. Scientists need to test medical treatments for effectiveness and test new drugs for safety before beginning human testing. Small animals, usually rats, are used to determine the possible side effects of new drugs. After animal tests have proven the safety of new drugs, patients asked to participate in furtherstudies can be assured that they may fare better, and will not do worse than if they were given standard treatment or no treatment. We will write a custom essay on The Importance Of Animal Research specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now New surgical techniques first must be carefully developed and tested in living, breathing, whole organ systems with pulmonary and circulatory systems much like ours. The doctors who perform todays delicate cardiac, ear, eye, pulmonary and brain surgeries, as well as doctors in training, must develop the necessary skills before patients lives are entrusted to their care. Neither computer models, cell cultures, nor artificial substances can simulate flesh, muscle, blood, and organs likethe ones in live animals. There is no alternative to animal research. Living systems are complex. The nervous system, blood and brain chemistry, and gland secretions are all interrelated. It is impossible to explore, explain or predict the course of many diseases or the effects of many treatments without observing and testing the entire living system. Cell and tissue cultures, often suggested as alternatives to usinganimals, have been used in medical research for many years. But these areonly isolate d tests. And isolated tests will yield only isolated results, which may bear little relation to a whole living system. Scientists do not yet know enough about living systems or diseases, nor does the technology exist, to replicate one on a computer. The information required to build a true computer model in the future will be based on data drawn fromtodays animal studies. Primates represent only about 1/3 of 1 percent of animals in research. But during the last half century, research using primates has led to major medical breakthroughs, most notably in the treatment of polio and Rh disease. Vaccines have reduced the cases of polio in the U.S. from58,000 to one or two a year at present. Scientists are learning how the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)works by studying its non-human primate counterpart, the Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV) in monkeys. The SIV model is useful in testing drugs for AIDS. In addition, the HIV virus survives in certain kinds of monkeys and although it does not kill the animals, it can be removed from them. This may prove useful in testing an AIDS vaccine. Researchers are studying rhesus macaque monkeys to explore ways to reduce multiple organ failure following hypotensive shock, a loss of blood pressure due to loss of blood. Researchers have hypothesized that damage to the organs occur within the first few minutes after blood flow is reestablished, when a certain kind of white blood cell attaches to walls of blood vessels and releases toxic substances. The researchers reasoned that if, just before blood flow is reestablished, a substance that prevents the white blood cells from attaching to the vessel walls were injected into the blood stream, it might prevent the release of theirtoxic contents and avoid multiple organ damage. It is expected that thisnew technique will prove effective in human patients. .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 , .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 .postImageUrl , .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 , .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37:hover , .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37:visited , .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37:active { border:0!important; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37:active , .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37 .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u57b18f527e8314e44803cddde7f94c37:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Definition Of Heroism Essay Researchers are studying obesity in monkeys in hopes of finding away to control body weight. Scientist are also using monkeys to studyTaurine deficiency, which causes vision problems, and zinc deficiency, which causes growth retardation among infants and fetuses. Researchers are currently studying to see whether reduced caloricintake can slow the rate of aging. This effect has already been observedin lower animals, and if it holds true in primates, it would be a strong indication that humans might be able to increase their life spans by eating less. Primates have the same number and relative size of teeth as humans. Macaque monkeys have been studied by dental researchers to link a specificbacterium to the growth of periodontitis, which affects 75 percent of alladults and causes 70 percent of adult tooth loss. A non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug, flurbiprofen, has been shown to be effective in halting the progression of periodontal disease. Since the 1920s, scientists have studied primates in order to understand their ability to communicate. They have discovered that chimpanzees and other apes have the ability to learn and use language. Scientists already have applied their findings toward developing a special language for severely mentally retarded children, as well as young adultswith little or no linguistic competence, who cannot learn language as normal children do. People should ensure that an end is not put to progress in animal research. Biomedical researchers know that an animal in distress is simply not a good research subject. Researchers are embarked on an effort to alleviate misery, not cause it. And remember, if we want to defeat the killer diseases that still confront us, such as AIDS and Alzheimers, cancer, heart disease, and many others, the misguided fanatics of the animal-rights movement must be stopped. Think about it, it could some day be your life or your childrens.
